The Fellowship of the Wheel (FOTW), The Old Spokes Home and MTBVT.com proudly present the second annual Global Fat Bike Day celebration hosted at the Catamount Outdoor Family Center on Saturday, December 5, 2015. Global Fat Bike Day kicks off Le Grand Fat Tour, an international, months-long celebration of fat biking with races, group rides, demo bikes from local shops, and quality food and drink for all to enjoy from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“Our goal is to encourage winter cycling among the ridership of Chittenden County and beyond,” explained Steve Fischer, FOTW president. “This event is a great way to stay active, riding bikes outside during what used to be our off-season.”
Included in the Global Fatbike Day festivities is the second annual Fat Cat Alleycat Ride presented by The Old Spokes Home. The Fat Cat is a scavenger-hunt-style competition for competitive riders and novices alike. Participants compete for prizes by collecting tokens on a marked course through Catamount’s extensive network. Local bike shops will have fat bikes available from numerous brands for demoing. Group rides will provide map-free exploration of Catamount’s fat-bike network.
Le Grand Fat Tour promotes sustainable trail networks and is a catalyst for activating winter riding programs. It’s also a great opportunity to educate and entertain the pedaling public. Global Fat Bike Day is proud to be the first event on the Le Grand Fat Tour schedule.
This event is made possible by support from Earl’s Cyclery, Skirack, Outdoor Gear Exchange, iRide, The Skinny Pancake, The Firebird Café, Guild Tavern, and the Hinesburg Public House.
The Catamount Outdoor Family Center is located in Williston, VT. Please dress warmly and let it snow.
Come rain or shine, snow or no snow, Global Fat Bike Day will include:
Fat bike demos and a marked demo loop
Group rides for all abilities
Local food and drink
A semi-competitive race for all levels of riders
